Motorcyclists Reap Rewards from Economic Stimulus Package

"On every question of construction, carry ourselves back to the time when the Constitution was adopted, recollect the spirit manifested in the debates, and instead of trying what meaning may be squeezed out of the text, or invented against it, conform to the probable one in which it was passed." --Thomas Jefferson to William Johnson, 1823

Many states in the late 1960's felt the pressure from un-Constitutional and illegal federal government pressure on them to enact helmet laws to protect us from ourselves.  Colorado bowed to this pressure in 1969 and enacted a helmet law.  Out of this attack on biker's freedoms were born many organizations across the country  to fight this injustice.  Bikers have always been a breed apart - wanting to be left alone to enjoy their sport.  Only an idiot would claim riding a motorcycle is safe.  We did not need anyone telling us that our heads could get bashed in a crash.  We knew the risk.  Many of us also suspected that helmets could kill and maim,  but uncle sam/nhtsa wasn't about to acknowledge this fact.  (Current Helmet laws in the 50 states - Click Here)

Colorado's helmet law was repealed May 20, 1977 due to the work of a group calling itself CMSA (Colorado Motorcycle Safety Association) and CAHL (Coloradoans Against Helmet Laws).  Out of this initial group, others were formed across the state.  Riders For Justice was one of them and has a long and proud history. RFJ aligned themselves with CWCC (Colorado West Concerned Cyclists), another long time rights group from the western slope, and CMSA (which is still active today). eventually, CWCC merged with RFJ.  RFJ, CWCC, & CMSA have successfully defeated helmet law attempts over 30 times in Colorado as well as attempts in Utah.

We have been and will continue to be THE defender of biker's rights in Colorado.  We publish a monthly newspaper 9 times a year to keep our members informed of Constitutional issues that might affect their freedoms.  Bikers as a whole are freedom loving individuals, gun owners, and fun lovers.   Many are Veterans and as a group we don't support any of the un-Constitutional gun laws enacted.  All of these bills are based on society's fears and have absolutely no impact on crime.  We believe the Constitution is clear when it says that our right to "keep and bear arms shall not be infringed".  All of these laws infringe that right and are illegal based on our Constitution.  We believe in all of our rights as listed in the Bill of Rights and acknowledge that the government has been systematically working to destroy those rights through the work of the liberal elitists in America.  We also believe in helping out our brothers and sisters when they are in need or injured.  We don't get involved in a lot of charity work unless it impacts our RFJ members.  RFJ is there to fight for our rights and all funding for our organization is used for that purpose including hiring a lobbyist to work at the Colorado Legislature.  If you are interested in joining RFJ, membership is $20 per year and includes a subscription to the newspaper.  Membership runs from October to October with our primary focus on the Jan to May timeframe while the Colorado Legislature is in session.

Riders For Justice is a sustaining member of the Motorcycle Riders Foundation and we encourage all bikers to consider joining MRF to help protect our rights on a national level.  We need someone in Washington D.C. looking out for our rights!  RFJ is also an associate member of the Colorado Confederation of Clubs, which is also working to preserve biker's rights and fight discrimination against all motorcyclists.

We hope you enjoy our web page.  You might want to see how our organization is run by checking our bylaws as well as our purpose.   Check out our links page and let us know what you think.  Please make sure you visit our newspaper and article archive for some good reading.  These papers take a while to download if you are using a dial-up connection.  A word of "Thanks" to our supporters.  We could not survive without your help!  As you travel through Colorado, please support these businesses as they support us and believe in FREEDOM!!  If you are planning a trip to Colorado and want to know Colorado law pertaining to motorcycles or you are a resident of Colorado and need to find out what Colorado law is pertaining to motorcycles, please check out our page on Colorado Motorcycle Laws
